BIS 301: Foundations of Interdisciplinary Studies
In BIS 301, we learned what interdisciplinary studies meant. We were taught how to think in an interdisciplinary
way and how to integrate our two concentration areas. Using interdisciplinary means, we learned how to create
solutions to many problems and issues presented to us. For the course final project, we broke up into teams and created
greeting card companies. We had to integrate all group members' concentration areas to create our cards and run our
company.
BIS 302: Interdisciplinary Inquiry
In this course, students learned how to apply different interdisciplinary research methods. We learned
the tools needed to create and implement surveys.
BIS 401: Applied Interdisciplinary Studies
This course required that students choose an applied studies site that would integrate both concentrations chosen.
Students had to do a required 125 hours at their chosen site. This is an internet course.
BIS 402: Senior Seminar
For the Senior Seminar, the student is required to take a deeper look within. Using Carol Pearson's 12
archetypes, students are encouraged to take a look back at their own personal journeys and find their dominant and weakest
archetypes. They also learn how to apply each archetype to their journey and daily lives.
